History

The Owner's Representative was founded in Boston, MA in 2000 by Meave G. O’Marah to provide financial consulting and top quality consulting CFO and Operations services to start-ups, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. In 2005, The Owner’s Representative expanded into Washington, D.C.

Principals

 

Partner

Meave G. O'Marah

Meave has extensive experience in politics and public policy, working in London, New York City, and Massachusetts. She has worked on issues ranging from criminal justice to education to administration and finance. While working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, her focus was on fiscal policy and the close tie between policy initiatives and their effect on state finances. Meave was the Governor’s lead fiscal analyst assessing the 1994 Crime Bill. She was also appointed by former Governor William Weld to a small task force that developed a blueprint to improve dramatically the performance of Massachusetts State Government.

After leaving the public sector, Meave helped launch one of the nation's largest education management companies and functioned as the Vice-President for Strategic Planning and the Director of Finance. In both positions, her understanding of the legislative process and public financing mechanisms enabled the company to project and attain revenues from federal, state and local funding sources. She prepared financial reports and analyses for the venture capital investors. Meave was also responsible for overseeing the design of the accounting systems, budgets and financial projections for individual schools and the company as a whole.

Partner

Matt Sokolowski

Matt joined The Owner’s Representative in 2005 with the opening of the Washington, DC office. He brings experience in the non-profit sector including work with museums and education groups. Matt has served as the Director of Finance with several federally funded organizations, designing and implementing financial and operational systems. He has also overseen several construction projects for his clients including the restoration and renovation of a prominent National Historic Landmark site. Matt served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin, West Africa.

Nicholas Peterson

After working in operations and communications for DC non-profits, Nicholas joined the Owner’s Representative in 2017. They are interested in providing small groups with intuitive, detailed and personalized systems that capture the day to day needs of their operations, programs, and organizational goals. Nicholas also brings experience in database design and administration; digital media content development and strategy; grants management; and event planning.
